Mövenpick Resort & Spa Karon Beach, Phuket is by far the best resort I have ever stayed at.

Having previously stayed at Le Meridien, Phuket, our travel agent recommended Mövenpick Resort & Spa Karon Beach as it was a cheaper alternative and boy oh boy am I glad he did!

There are four swimming pools in the resort and a beautiful spa to have a relaxing massage (or ten!) The main swimming pool has a water slide as well as a swim up bar and has a poolside menu so you don’t even have to leave your seat to order lunch or a snack (very handy, believe me!). The resort is also directly across the road from Karon Beach which is (in my opinion) the cleanest beach in the area accessible to the public.

When we visited, we stayed in the Superior Sea View room (as it was only an additional $20 for the entire stay – we stayed 12 nights) and included Buffet breakfast every day for the two of us at the Pacifica Restaurant. Let’s just say, no one does a buffet like Mövenpick, my now-Husband literally made himself sick on the first morning by over-indulging in the sweets section – croissants, chocolate donuts, sugared donuts, danishes of every kind, banana bread…. Yup, he didn’t feel too great after all that sugar!

At the buffet, there are a range of different foods, including freshly made waffles and pancakes, an egg station, cereals, breads, pastries, meats, Asian cuisine and Westernised breakfast options.

Dinner there also is beyond sensational. On one night they had a deal for approx. $20 AUD per person, you were treated to an entrée, main and dessert which included freshly made soup, a main such as chicken and dessert was homemade coconut ice cream (YUMMMM).

There are a number of other restaurants located on the resort; El Gaucho Restaurant, OrientAsia, Mint… The opportunities are endless and you literally never have to leave the resort to eat. Try the fresh oven baked pizza from Mint Bar & Restaurant – we arrived there on our first night after an exhausting day of travelling and decided to order a pizza each as the prices were considered cheap to us especially being a 5 star resort (Approx. $10 AUD) and they were huge!
Also, when we ate at OrientAsia one night, we ate at about 5:30pm and after the already ridiculously low prices of the night, as we had ordered before 6pm, they offered an additional 20% discount off the total price – the food is great here as well covering Thai and other Asian cuisine.

When staying here, be mindful that it is a rather large resort, so walking from one end to the other does take about five or so minutes – depending on how quick you are at walking!

PROS: Super friendly, very clean, free fresh bottled water, food is beyond amazing.
CONS: Price can be a bit steep – depending on time of year.
