We are now known as ‘The Indoor Generation’, as we spend 90% of our time indoors and we don’t even realise it. The lack of fresh air or daylight can be harmful to our health – so in the famous words of Anthony Bourdain, “Move. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean, or simply across the river. Walk in someone else’s shoes or at least eat their food. Open your mind, get up off the couch, move.”
This I am applying to everyday life, so today, it was a nice long stroll around our estate, and boy did the weather not disappoint!
Being a part of the ‘Indoor Generation’ is a dangerous one, as indoor air can be up to five times more polluted than outdoor air, so even if you stay inside, it is better to open up a window rather than sitting and breathing in the stale air. What is also alarming is the amount of mould that you see frequently on social media with people asking for help, as this has shown to increase the risk of asthma by 40%.
So get up off that couch, get some fresh air, whether it’s going for a walk or opening a window, do it!
