Northern Territory, Australia

A few years back, I went on a school trip which meant driving in a double decker bus from Melbourne through to Darwin. It was a great trip with 42 other students (and my now-Husband!) and remains one of the best trips I have taken through Australia.

We went from Melbourne – Adelaide – Coober Pedy – Kulgera – Alice Springs – Tennant Creek – Mataranka – Darwin. Along the way, we managed to visit the Mataranka Thermal Pools, Berry Springs, Uluru, Kakadu, Katherine’s Gorge, Litchfield Park, Mindil Beach, Wangi Wangi Falls…. The list goes on!

I managed to kiss a crocodile, swim with numerous reptiles (I am hoping it was just a water dragon and wasn’t a snake as it went right through my legs!), see amazing wildlife and view Australia in a way I had never before. I also got to explore Kings Canyon and climb Ayers Rock (Uluru) but they have now closed the latter down, so that was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The Northern Territory has a lot to offer and is a must-do when visiting Australia.
