So, this ‘diet’ is kicking my ass and the other night I had a severe sweet tooth, and being that I was doing this diet, I had chucked out anything to munch on! Hence, the need to attempt to make custard from scratch…. and boy was I glad I did!
After scouring the internet, I found this recipe on KidSpot.com.au which was simple and I had all the ingredients on hand, super bonus, I didn’t need to leave the house 🙂 This custard is easy to make, and the trick is to add the sugar at the end as it can cause the custard to burn (I have also amended some of the ingredients as I like my custard sweet, I’ve added a cup of sugar instead of 1/3 and also used two tablespoons vanilla essence instead of just one).
I made this recipe two days ago and just had a bowl of it from the fridge and tastes just as amazing cold.
5 cups milk
2 tbsp vanilla
½ cup cornflour
1 cup sugar
In a cold can, whisk the eggs, milk, vanilla and cornflour together and place over medium heat. Whisking constantly, bring to the boil and simmer for 2 minutes.
Whisk in the sugar and serve.
