RECIPE: Beef Pasta Bake


1 tbs olive oil
1 onion, chopped
3 mushrooms, chopped
2 garlic cloves, crushes
2 rashers bacon, chopped
2 carrots finely chopped
500g mince beef
440g condensed tomato soup
1/3 cup tomato paste
1 tbs tomato sauce (ketchup)
1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
1-2 tbs chilli paste (to taste)
1 tsp oregano
150g spiral shaped pasta
1 cup grated cheddar cheese


Preheat oven to 180°C.

Heat oil in large pan, cook onion, garlic, bacon and carrots, stirring until carrot is just tender – about 8 minutes – add mushrooms.

Add mince and cook, stirring, until mince changes colour, then add soup, tomato paste, sauce, Worcestershire sauce, chilli paste and oregano and simmer, covered, about 15 minutes or until mixture has thickened slightly.

While beef mixture is simmering, cook pasta and drain. Stir pasta into beef mixture, then spoon into an oiled deep 8 cup capacity oven proof dish and sprinkle with cheese. Bake, uncovered, for 15 minutes or until slightly browned.
